I would like to see functionality for something to be ran as soon as a bot is opened.

IE as soon as a exe is opened by the "USER" this Onload command would run anything that is inside it. Could be a user prompt of instructions, write to browser, javascript, navigate (useless if you have UI splash), load lists, etc..

The Onload element would be a huge benefit i think with a lot of things and Believe it would be used highly by others as well.

Whats some feedback on this?

The "ui splash page" will be the closest you can come to this. Unless v4 offers the ability to single out special code like you want.

Is this your opinion or how its going to be?

There is TONS and TONS of benefits from the OnLoad function.
Do a google search for vb .NET, c#, C++, hell any language style of coding. Why wouldn't there be a Onload function within this program.

A splash page isn't noting but a starting background. it gives no functionality other then to change from the blog to a pretty background of your own.

Historically speaking. This kind of interaction has been frowned upon because it COULD lend itself to be very dangerous. It follows the same kind of track as the switch for Auto starting a bot (/AUTO).

I certainly understand what you want but standing where I am and for as long as I have been standing here. I don't see it happening.

I'm not against it. In fact, I would use it. ;)

I just think that because it could be dangerous isn't exactly a reason to rule it out.

Anything can be dangerous if used in a malicious manner.

javascript, SHELL to be one of the biggest concerns but yet we use that quite often.

Its all in how its used, and when used, used properly.

But the shell cannot be initiated on its own. The user still clicks the Play button. So the user is in control.

If you do something outside of that then the user is not in control.

be it a user initiates it or not. still dangerous yes?

be it if something runs as soon as they open the program or they do the intended play button it gets used anyways.

The Pros outweigh the Cons in this situation

What would you like to see here? Would you want just a sub that runs onload?

As far as what onload means, what does that mean to you? Whenever the current tab loads? Whenever ubot starts loading your script? After the bot has finished loading your script? After the ui has finished loading for that script?

This could be a useful feature but I'd like to see it a little more thought out, with some good examples of what you might use it for.

I am in support of the argument, it can surely be a helpful feature. As said above, anything can be dangerous, and is just about how its used.

Well you guys should know by now what I am vehemently against; Goto node.

I am putting my money on there will be no "OnLoad" function. I just do not see the powers at large changing their mind. Trust me, if it does come then I will be using it.

This isn't a goto request and used certainly different.

Onload to me means when the tab is opened it runs that [SUB] or node used for Onload.

Anything within that Node will run as soon as that tab is clicked upon, or for the sake of a single tabbed bot runs as soon as the bot / program is opened.

This not should be able to utilize most other features of ubot inside the node. I would not put in a navigate for this node to be used with because that is the same thing as the splash screen. Other then that being able to use anything and everything else ubot has to offer inside this node should be ok to utilize.

A few examples would be:
-pre-populating variables
-pre-loading javascript
-alert for end user on what to do first before trying to run the program / bot
***The use for this is absolutely endless.

As for who the Onload feature would be available for (standard, pro, dev) I will not say as i'm not the shot caller just a eager botter. I will rather leave that to the powers that be.

I would use it to preload saved user settings.

Keep a settings.txt file. When the onload sub runs, it pulls the previously used settings from the file and fills in the proper UI HTML fields.

Another feature, I requested in enhancements was the ability to run subs from the UI HTML panel.

So a user could click on "Save Settings" in the UI HTML panel, that would then run a sub to write the current UI HTML panel settings into the settings.txt file.

This saves the end user from having to repopulate 10-20 textboxes and checkboxes every time they run the bot.

The whole idea of a bot could be used maliciously. It's the programmer that's responsible.

This is a ridiculous argument, the moment the user runs the exe he has given permission.
Can we build it? Yes we can!

This can already be down using the current commands in Ubot

Use UI button, Create a table for the options, save the file as settings.csv

Load the .CSV file. Then code the bot to accept the info from either local file or text boxes

Anyone have any new if its in play or already there , i did a search in ubot but it didn't find it so i assume its not in there yet.

i had to code it in manually but like Tj said it has many future uses and is a great idea for loading info at start without forcing the run button then ui buttons after
